Planting Instructions:
Cornflowers are best established directly outdoors, when the weather is warm and all danger of frost has passed. Begin by clearing your sowing area of all unwanted plant life and weeds. Turn the dirt, or replace it with a fresh sowing medium. Scatter the seeds to the bare ground, spacing them out accordingly. Cover thinly, with 1/16" of topsoil so that direct sunlight can reach the seeds. Cornflowers thrive in warm locations of roughly 65F to 70F or more. They require an area of full sunlight for the majority of the day, and are adaptable to almost any soil condition. You must make sure that your sowing area is however, well drained. To increase drainage, we recommend adding a light compost to areas containing hard, compact soil. Water the seeds daily until germination has occurred. Once established, Cornflower can be quite drought tolerant. Cornflower seeds are known to germinate in as little as 14 to 21 days after sowing. The Tall White Cornflower will grow to a mature height of roughly 28 to 36 inches tall, producing lovely, pure white, tooth shaped florets. Each flower can be spaced about 6 to 12 inches apart from one another. Categorized as an annual flowering plant, the Tall White Cornflower will grow quickly, bloom profusely through the summer months and later die with the first frost.
