With a greater range of adaptability than either of its parents, the Southern Highbush blueberry is a cross between the Northern Highbush blueberry and native southern species. Unlike Northern Highbush blueberries, Southern Highbush blueberries tolerate a wider range of soil conditions and temperature variations. Although the fruits are slightly smaller, they are equally as delicious and hold up much better in warmer temps. As a result of the delicious berries they produce, Southern Highbush blueberries are becoming increasingly popular for home and commercial planting. The Southern Highbush blueberry is a good choice for growers in the Mid-Atlantic, Appalachian, Southern, and Midwest regions where winter temperatures are not typically well below freezing for most of the entire winter. In colder regions, our Northern Highbush blueberry (https://www.etsy.com/listing/1270415653/blueberry-northern-highbush-heirloom) are an excellent choice.
