Bells of Ireland (Moluccella laevis) - 100 Seeds

$1.95 $3.90

Before green flowers became a hot trend, there were bells of Ireland, a flower in cultivation since the 1500s. Florists love bells of Ireland for their availability and longevity, and you’ll see them used in wedding flower arrangements as often as in St. Patrick’s day bouquets. As members of the Lamiaceae family, they are related to such ornamental and culinary plants as sage (Salvia), catmint (Nepeta), thyme (Thymus), and lavender (Lavandula).

Planting Instructions:
Direct sow in late fall. Since they need light to germinate, sow on the soil surface. For spring planting, mix the seeds with moist sand and store in the refrigerator for 60 days before planting. Keep the soil lightly moist until germination which usually takes 3-4 weeks. The seeds can also be started indoors 6-8 weeks before planting in the spring. Keep seedlings lightly moist, and transplant them after the threat of spring frost. Using peat pots for indoor sowing is highly recommended.
