Columbine seeds are so rewarding to grow and give your garden spring color. This Aquilegia Caerulea Crystal Star is marked by lovely long spurred white blossoms. Aquilegia is one of the most valuable, hardy perennials, grown for its attractive foliage and pretty, spurred flowers, which are unequaled for their grace and color. Columbines make excellent cut flowers. Columbine flower seed sown early may bloom the first year, and will give good bloom the second season. Aquilegia Caerulea plants prefer full sun in areas with mild summer climates, but in hot climates, they do well with partial shade in the afternoon. Columbines bloom better with regular waterings, and cutting back old stems encourages repeat bloom. The hummingbirds and butterflies love Columbine, but usually both deer and rabbits leave it along. Most varieties of Columbines are profuse self seeders yielding a new crop of volunteers the following spring. Collected seeds produced from hybrid plants may not hold true in form to their parents. Deer resistant.
