Prairie Blazing Star is an iconic prairie flower blooming from the top down. This native favorite produces bright, tufted spikes of blooms. In wetland plantings, this perennial is one of the few in the Liatris family that likes moist soil. It is irresistible to butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds.

Growing Instructions:
Direct sow blazing star seeds in late fall pressing them into the soil surface. For spring planting, mix the seeds with moist sand and store in the refrigerator for 60 days before planting keeping the soil lightly moist until germination which usually occurs in 4 weeks at soil temperature 65-70°. This seed can also be started indoors 6-8 weeks before planting in the spring after the threat of frost. Water regularly until well established. Due to the extensive root development, blooming usually doesn't occur until the second year. After several years, divide the plant after blooming when the plant goes dormant to continue growth.
